Competition Divine Wine
If we hear from a friend that there is this stunning, awe-inspiring, unbelievably-majestic waterfall within a deep, green, lush, heavenly forest, only within few miles from our home, we make it a point to get there and witness first hand so we do not miss out on the beautiful scenery and the sentiments to be experienced. When it comes to the spiritual realm, when amazing descriptions of the paradise of the righteous are recounted, we tend to not have a similarly urgent motivation. We do not take that seriously for some reason. We see it as distant and not tangible, or assume that it will be granted to us later. We move on with our lives, and preoccupy ourselves with achieving our typical wants and desires. Effectively we acknowledge that goods and success in this life is to be strived towards, while whispering to ourselves that goodness in the hereafter instead simply comes to us! We set up and aim towards the goals and experiences on this earth, while we assume that wonderful things will themselves show up in the next life! Or maybe we don’t even really believe in the hereafter. -- Arman Rahmim
